In this deeply philosophical film that deals with such weighty issues as mortality, self service, selflessness and filmed on 2 continents this young actress holds her own among seasoned and skilled talent such as Eric Roberts, Sean Young and Federico Castelluccio. Sarah Sebastiana crafts a style all her own. A quiet yet powerful presence that imparts a sense that this character even though she is young will stand her ground rooted and bound to what she believes in and her connection to her family and nothing and I mean nothing will sway her. I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Sarah about filming “Leaves of a Tree” which had its screening at the 2015 SOHO International Film Festival. It was a pleasure speaking to such a heartfelt young actress. I have a feeling we will be seeing much more from her in the future and I look forward to it with great anticipation.
What was it like shooting on location in Sicily, Italy?
Sarah Sebastiana: It was really amazing! I have been there before and have extended family there.
How did you juggle that and school?
SS: I was able to unenroll from my stateside school for 3 weeks and get a tutor. My parents went with me as well so I had a lot of support. They made sure I didn’t fall behind.
What was it like working with the other talent like Sean Young, Eric Roberts and Federico Castelluccio?
SS: At first it was kind of scary but they were all so great! Federico was funny, Eric was patient and kind and Sean took me under her wing and mentored me. She always reminded me to sit up straight.
What are your hobbies?
SS: Everything that has to do with acting. I very much enjoy theater acting, costume construction and playing the Ukulele.
What would you like to say to anyone reading this interview?
SS: I’m just grateful every day that I get to do what I am passionate about. I am determined to work hard and do the best that I can.
Thank you Sarah, we look forward to seeing the journey your talent and passion takes you on. [TAOMR]
