As one enters Perkins Coffee Haus one can not help but notice the warm and comfortable atmosphere. On the walls are the works of different artists. There are people drinking their coffee, others working on their laptops and there’s those that are just sitting back enjoying the pleasant surroundings.
I as I go to order I am surprised to learn that all the food is made from scratch and there are no additives or preservatives. This is definitely a different kind of coffeehouse.
The menu is diverse in it’s selections, but what the coffeehouse is known for is it delectable waffle sandwiches, mouthwatering cinnamon rolls and fantastic coffee. I would recommend the ham and cheese on croissant pressed in the waffle iron.
As I enjoy the last bit of my cinnamon rolls and sip on my coffee, I listen to the owner Travis Wilson who has walk over to talk to me. He tells me the story of this quaint little coffee shop. As he does I take note of just how passionate and humble he is.
In this rough economy Travis could not stand by and watch kids go jobless until there they were in their 20s. He felt someone had to step up and help the youth with entry level jobs, someone had to take the lead. Travis is a teacher of 19 years and a coach, who believed the sports of basketball was a perfect example of what to do. As he states:
“There are five people on the court and the person that comes off the bench to help the starters out can be the difference between winning and losing, they are called the sixth man .”
It was Travis desire to create a coffeehouse that would help the community and the kids. He has set the goals of the coffeehouse to educate young people in business operations and entrepreneurship while offering a great product. In this community Perkins Coffee Haus has definitely become the six man.
If you’re looking for a place to relax or to bring the family Perkies Coffee Haus is that place. It is a place of old-fashioned sentiment and homestyle service. It is the perfect coffeehouse to get away from it all and it is very reasonable. The food is great the people are welcoming so much so you just might not want to leave.
